Retired Geezer and Rainbow Six Vegas September 2, 2008

One of the best things about being retired is the ability to pretty much do what I want. One of the things I enjoy doing is playing video games. It’s actually cheap entertainment.

My favorite game right now is Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 ™. I like it a lot more than the original RB6V (which I loved).

I like the fact that you still get points even if you lose a Terrorist Hunt.

I like the concept of the A.C.E.S. points.

I like the way you can drop into a game already in progress.

I wish they would have included a compass in the game to facilitate giving directions to your teammates.

If you’re on Xbox Live, give me a shout.

Theme Song Poll (Test) April 19, 2006

Vote on the song.
Michael and KC, try this and let me know how you like the format.

This is something to consider (from PollHost):

Important! Please remember that you may not include your poll or links to your poll in any email message, or your poll will be subject to removal from our service and you could be banned from using our service in the future.

In other words, we can't email people to try it, but that's OK.

I also don't know if voting is restricted to one per day / per IP address.

I just made this test poll in about 5 minutes (as a guest) I didn't log in, although I could have.

Inside Showbiz ~ Doobie Brothers April 2, 2006

I was fortunate enough to have run the lights for the Doobie Brothers. One time back in 1997, they came to my hotel to do a show without a Lighting Director. I had to create their lighting from scratch. They just handed me a set list (list of the songs they were going to do).

 I got to CREATE, baby!

They were very happy with my effort. I went down after the show and Pat Simmons (and one other guy) signed my cue sheet.

Their manager even sent a letter to my boss, Ron Stone, and complimented the Lighting.

The wind has been blowing about 40 mph all morning. The Tumbleweeds race across the 100 acre field like Michael Moore heading for the Old Country Buffet.

This is what my neighbor’s house looks like after the Tumbleweeds gather for a meeting.

She had to kick her way out of her house to get to her car.

Blogs could be shut down 60 days pre-election March 21, 2006

Saw this on the GOA site.
You McCain supporters might want to read this.

“…Wednesday, March 15, 2006

The U.S. House of Representatives will vote, as early as Thursday, on legislation introduced by Texas Congressmen Jeb Hensarling and Ron Paul. This bill (H.R. 1606) will exempt the Internet from regulation under federal ‘electioneering’ laws.

Unless the Hensarling-Paul bill is successful, many major blogs and web sites could be shut down for 60 days before any general election — and for 30 days prior to any primary — making it much more difficult for groups like Gun Owners of America to criticize anti-gun candidates.

How did we arrive at such a dismal state?

You may remember that, a half-decade ago, Senator John McCain (R-AZ) pushed a McCain-Feingold bill which, as enacted, prohibits organizations from engaging in major ‘broadcast communications’ which even mention a candidate in a favorable or unfavorable light within 60 days of a general election (30 days of a primary).

Senate Republicans rolled over — and George Bush signed the bill — based on the assumption that the Supreme Court would surely save them from their unconstitutional legislation. But, in McConnell v. Federal Election Commission, 540 U.S. 93 (2003), the Supreme Court, by a five-to-four decision, upheld McCain-Feingold, almost in its entirely…”

‘Are You Conservative’ doesn’t post much, but when she does, it’s worth the wait.

“…What Are Sex Zombies?

Sex Zombies are people whose morbid preoccupation with sex becomes so consuming, it overshadows all other aspects of being.

And, apparently, they’re okay with that…”

Islam and Homosexuality March 20, 2006

The Leftists might want to re-think their embracing of Islam as the Religion of Peace.

All the Real Christians I know, have compassion for Gays.

Here’s the Gateway Pundit’s take on the situation:

“…Looking at Saudia Arabian society, besides the public floggings, the life of a gay man is a closeted dream:

Security police arrested the men on March 10 at a private party held in a rented hall in Jeddah. The government-affiliated newspaper Al-Wifaq reported that the men at the party were dancing and “behaving like women.”

On or about March 26, a Jeddah court, meeting in a closed session in which defense attorneys were excluded, sentenced 31 of the men to prison for six months to one year, and to 200 lashes each, for unreported offenses. Four other men received two years’ imprisonment and 2,000 lashes…”

Ten Commandments Explained March 19, 2006

Ever wonder why some people object to the Ten Commandments? Well, it’s because they don’t read them the same way that you do.

Rodger has explained the difference for us: Read the Whole List

“…The term ‘Ten Commandments’ came up in today’s homily, and it reminded me how I simply cannot understand why anybody would object to their display? I began thinking of people I know, who get their panties bunched up over this subject, and what I think their objections would be…”

..
Commandment:

1 – I am the Lord thy God and thou shalt not have any strange gods before me.

Why They Hate It:

I have an IQ of 168, a degree in sociology, and I don’t believe in Santa.. You’re not the boss of me.

7 – Thou shalt not steal.

Do you mean shoplifting from the Wal-Mart oppressor? Or ripping oil from the Earth Mother?

OK Funseekers, time to post your Favorite Song Intros, or perhaps they should be called the Most Distinctive Song Intros.

We’re talking about Intros so Distinctive that you know the name of the song within the first five notes (or 3 seconds).
My friends and I called this game, “Stump the Jock”

You know, like Deep Purple’s “Smoke on the Water”.
Dun Dun Duhhhh
Dun Dun Di Duhhh
Dun Dun Duhhh
Dun Duhhh*

Like the Stones, “Satisfaction”. (that was a two-note gimme)

Like the Kinks:
“You Really Got Me” or “All Day and All The Night”.

Leave your nominations in the comments.

Update: If the photo isn’t loading, you can see it here.
Bonus points for identifying the band in this photo, I shot from the lightbooth.
